z/OSMF
z/OS Management Facility: a web interface and set of web APIs for working with z/OS from a browser or another program.
Also written z/OS Management Facility, zOSMF, z/OSMF REST API
z/OSMF, the z/OS Management Facility, lets people work with z/OS through a web browser instead of a 3270 terminal. It runs on the mainframe as a server and is part of z/OS.
In the browser it offers screens for many system tasks: following step-by-step workflows to install or configure software, managing software, looking at problems, and working with jobs and datasets. Much of it is aimed at system programmers, and it helps newer staff do tasks that once needed years of experience.
It also offers web APIs, called REST APIs. Other programs can use them to submit jobs, read job output, list and edit datasets, and run TSO commands. Many modern tools for developers, including Zowe, use these APIs to talk to z/OS.
You may never open z/OSMF yourself, but if you use a modern editor or a script to work with the mainframe, there is a good chance it is doing its work through z/OSMF.
Where can I learn this hands-on?
Right here, at ZedBank. You take a junior job at a simulated bank and learn each part of the work by doing it, with Zed beside you. There's nothing to install.
