CICSPlex SM
CICSPlex System Manager: IBM software that manages many CICS regions from one place and spreads transactions across them.
Also written CPSM, CICSPlex System Manager, CICSPlex, WUI, CMAS
CICSPlex SM, or CPSM, is a management tool for sites that run many CICS regions. Instead of signing on to each region to check or change it, staff can manage a whole group of regions, called a CICSplex, from one place.
It does several jobs. It gives a single view of resources across all regions, so you can find which regions have a program installed, or close a file everywhere at once. It can hold resource definitions centrally and install them in the right regions. It monitors regions and raises alerts. And it can route transactions, sending each one to whichever application region is best placed to run it, which spreads the load and works around a failed region.
People work with it through a web interface, the WUI, or through commands and programs. It runs in its own address spaces, called CMASes.
At a site using CICSPlex SM, much of what CEMT and CEDA do in one region is done across many regions at once through CPSM.
Where can I learn this hands-on?
Right here, at ZedBank. You take a junior job at a simulated bank and learn each part of the work by doing it, with Zed beside you. There's nothing to install.
